Babak Aghevli

Babak Aghevli, principal of COGNEGY, specializes in delivering value in all aspects of the technology space. Bringing 25 years of hands-on executive experience as well as deep skills in personnel and business management, his expertise spans from start-up ventures to FORTUNE 100 companies. He is a founding member of the CIO Executive Council, a peer network for the promotion of the IT industry that consists of more than 500 IT executives from around the globe.

Babak is proficient in managing business processes from opportunity identification to cash — his work for a middle-market manufacturing company helped lead the growth of $80 million to over $300 million during a period of three years. Over the last 10 years, he has been deeply involved in several ERP analysis and implementation projects, including extensive work with Microsoft Dynamics AX, PeopleSoft and Seibel ERP. Babak continually prioritized client goals on aligning and improving the business impact from these technology investments.

Prior to joining COGNEGY, Babak served for five years as a CIO for two mid-sized businesses in software and manufacturing where he was responsible for their entire IT portfolio. Prior to that, Babak spent three years as senior manager for Bearing Point, where he supervised projects with more than $9 million in professional fees. He has also filled various roles in the IT industry including director and vice president in the telecom industry. His contributions in these positions ranged from implementing the Siebel E-Marketing, Analytics and CRM applications to increase lead processing efficiency and improve the accuracy of sales forecasts, to leading a cross-functional team of IT, accounting and warehouse personnel through the identification and correction of a major inventory valuation issue. Additionally, Babak has designed and implemented disaster recovery, record retention, data center build-out and relocation, server and desktop support, and change management programs/processes to support organization transitions and to manage risk.

Babak received his electrical engineering degree from North Carolina State University. Additionally, he has received a number of professional certifications ranging from conflict management, to product marketing, to effective change management through mergers and acquisitions. Babak and His wife Zizi have lived all over the United States and currently reside in Duluth.
